6 ways to reduce energy usage at home and save money

Lots of little changes can make a big difference when it comes to saving money on your energy bills:

  1. Invest in an air fryer. Did you know that it costs half as much to bake a jacket potato in an air fryer compared to a conventional oven?
  2. Use the eco settings on your washing machine and if clothes aren’t dirty then wash them at 30°c
  3. A typical household uses around 12% of its energy from showers, baths and taps. By cutting your shower time from 8 to 4 minutes you could save around £80 a year on average (based on 5 showers a week)
  4. Switch to LED bulbs. Lightbulbs make up around 11% of your total energy usage. Switching 12 bulbs from halogen to LED will save you on average £200 per year.
  5. Tumble dryers use up a lot of energy. Use racks to dry your laundry indoors or hang your laundry outside to dry
  6. Only heat the rooms you are using. Use isolation valves to control the heating in your home
