The size of the observable universe increases as technology advances.
The James Webb Telescope (currently situated around one million miles from earth) is man’s latest scientific endeavour aiming to reveal new and never before seen galaxies.
The JWT mission also includes searching for the potential for life on other planets.
I dream about finding intelligent alien life. The mind boggles when you think that humans (as we know humans) have only been around for tens of thousands of years. Potentially there could be civilisations out there who have been around for millions, nay, billions of years!
The impact on humanity could be profound. The possibilities on outcomes endless. Opinion on whether the outcomes would be positive for human life are divided. The late great astro physicist Stephen Hawking is quoted as saying that contact with alien life could be catastrophic for the human race.
The universe is vast beyond all comprehension and yet to date we are yet to locate intelligent life beyond our planet.
Could it happen in our life times? I very much hope so.
